The open floor plan combines the living area and kitchen under vaulted wood ceilings. The living area has a new oak floor, lots of light, a cast iron wood burning stove on a local stone hearth, salvaged alder tongue-and-groove wainscoting, and cream-colored earthen plaster walls. The kitchen sink faces into a sunny southern window perfect for growing plants or starting seeds. The counters are all concrete. The cabinets are faced with locally salvaged, weathered cedar. The stove and oven are electric (to use the solar panels) topped by a large stainless steel vent hood. A thick slab of live edge wood tops the kitchen island and bar counter. The fifth-acre lot is flat, with several mature shade trees and fenced garden areas with improved soil. There are also fruit trees a few years old and mature grapevines.. The roof is plumbed to water the trees when it rains. There is a large covered back porch providing outdoor living space, built to accommodate an addition if desired. The lot is on a quiet, short, dead end street an easy 15 minute walk from downtown Moab, schools, the grocery store, ballfields, parks, the creek, the library, the post office, and music venues.
There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom connects to a master bathroom and a walk-in closet, and has a 55-square foot loft high enough to stand in, with attic storage access. The high ceilings let in light from the clerestory windows and two lower windows look into the back yard. The northeast bedroom has the same loft, ceilings and windows. The southeast bedroom has a large cob and stone window seat and lots of direct sunlight in the winter, with morning shade provided by a poplar tree in the summer.
There are two bathrooms. The main bathroom for household use has a porcelain bathtub, moroccan plaster (tadelakt) shower walls in sea green, a copper plated vanity with weathered cedar facing and trim, a linen closet, a window, a slate tile floor, and lime plaster walls with a lower coating of milk paint finished with wipe-able wax cream. The master bathroom has an enclosed tadelakt shower stall floored with local stone, a ceramic tile floor, tiled vanity, lime-washed walls, and an exterior window.
You can drive by and look! But the house will be locked unless we come unlock it.
